Detroit has so much character. It’s unfortunate for those who refuse to experience first-hand the spirit, history, and beauty of this soulful city. Living right over the border from Detroit only strengthens the feeling of pride and connection to such a fighter city.
My fiancé and I could think of no better place to have our engagement pictures photographed. Our photographer Jeffrey Lewis Bennett is an artistic photographer like no other. His work is breathtaking and I knew when searching for the perfect photographer that I would not find better. His work speaks for itself.
We danced and posed and ran around the city of Detroit having the most amazing time, felt like true celebrities being photographed at all of these locations.
The Detroit Opera House was absolutely stunning. It felt very much like being inside the castle in The Beauty in the Beast. I couldn’t help but hum the Phantom of the Opera music in my head during half of the shoot!

This was my take on a comfy, but stylishly casual outfit. I focused on grey and black so that all of the colourful locations I chose would pop! Details below.
Running, literally, through Detroit was the most magical experience. The Detroit Opera House we had all to ourselves and what a stunning location it was free of anyone else. Then the colourful sites of the Detroit Synagogue and Bert’s on Broadway alleyway with all of the murals were the perfect colourful locations to represent us accurately. We could not be happier with our photos.
Hope you enjoyed viewing our engagement story session as much as we did! Had so much fun picking out the outfits for this special day.
