My Winter Essentials 2017

Yay to a new year! I have been enjoying the oxymoron of a lazily hectic holiday season and that meant allowing for a small blogging slump, but I’m back and excited for 2017. Another one of my excitements that most find me crazy for is the snow and Winter season. Everyone has their favourite season, and I happen to love the snowy, cold temperatures!

But of course with snow comes dry skin, lips, hair, etc. so my Winter essentials list combines a quick gathering of my favourite items to get your through the season that most hate!

1. Cozy time with a great book(s):ย  Not every item is related to beauty after all. Typically I can enjoy a book per week, I have a never ending list (Goodreads does NOT help my addiction) that I am constantly trying to get through. My good friend Sam at “Clues and Reviews” has the best recommendations, she has not failed me yet. Bird Box by Josh Malerman was our last book club read, and one of my year’s favourites! Also, Sam’s recommendation of “You” by Caroline Kepnes was also so twisted but beyond enthralling, who needs happy endings right!?

Also, the coolest way to mark pages ever, with these little “book darts” from Lee Valley

2. Hair Health:

I can’t help it, my obsession with the Bb line continues. This time instead of the dry shampoo powder I’ve found a new love in the moisturizing air primer that I use as a pre-heat treatment. It smells so clean and fresh too. A definite hair bonus if yours gets dry and dull like mine in the Winter.

3. Skin food:

a.) I call it food for skin maybe because mine literally sucks in the moisture I put on it during the winter! I usually love the Clinique signature yellow moisturizer, but find that for something a bit creamier when it is extra dry, the Ultra Repair Cream works like no other, the ONLY product I have ever used on both body and face.

b.) Skin care is always a battle because I do have reliable breakouts! I’m working with Image Spa to tackle my skin goals for 2017, and after a laser treatment I was recommended to try the Skin Medica cleanser and I can’t believe the difference I’ve seen. I always favoured a face wash that had a rough scrub feel or at least a strong lather to it, but this one is almost scentless and extremely creamy so the hydration it ends up providing is ideal for me. Extremely pleased with this product!

4. Body Hyrdation

I’m a caffeine fan. But besides that I really only drink water. I think it helps with energy levels, especially when I’m feeling extra sluggish because of the cold temps that make me want to cozy up on the couch. And it may sound silly, but I swear by the fact that I drink more water if the container I’m using has a straw! The fun Starbucks tumblers are also becoming a collection addiction…

Also these reading socks, are the warmest things ever!!! They made the cut too for a Winter essential. Mine are from Indigo.

5. Lips & All

He might not publicly admit it, so I will do it for him, I know how my fiancรฉ hooked on the Dior rose lip balm. Yes, it is amazing. If you don’t like rose scent, you will not like this product. But let me say, that if you need lip nourishment, you will find nothing better, not Vaseline, not Blistex, this stuff will still be on your mouth in the morning when you wake up.

Last, but not least, Vitamin-E capsules for the win. My mom has sworn by these and passed on the love for these little guys. I use them for everything, lips, face, nails, body, etc. They are obviously oily (oil capsules), but they absorb fast and are something I whip out whenever I need the added moisture kick!

Throw in my favourite fun Pil’aten lip masks, and you are one moisturized being ๐Ÿ™‚

Enjoy the cold, it won’t last forever!
